The Internet of Things is the network of physical objects with embedded intelligence to sense their environment and to interact with business systems and each other. SAP Leonardo IoT enables the Intelligent Enterprise by creating live insights from connected things and business processes to deliver business outcomes. SAP is highly invested in the Internet of Things, and this course will show you how to get started with SAP Leonardo IoT.
This course will walk you through several use cases and stories of successful implementations and will also show you how SAP Leonardo IoT works with SAP Leonardo Machine Learning and SAP Leonardo Analytics. You will learn fundamental IoT concepts and how SAP Leonardo IoT approaches each to enable the intelligent enterprise, topics like edge computing, sensors, digital twins, microservices, data integration, and more.
Also included is an optional interactive exercise (ideation challenge) in which you will get to submit your own IoT use case, receive peer feedback, vote on your favorite ideas submitted, and have a chance to be showcased in a gallery of the best submissions.
We welcome you to participate both in the course and in the challenge!
Week 1: Getting Started with SAP Leonardo IoT
Week 2: Going Deeper into SAP Leonardo IoT
Week 3: Final Exam
(Optional): SAP Leonardo IoT Ideation Challenge (Starting Week 2)
Since the recording of this course, customer feedback and market developments have led SAP to consolidate its IoT solution portfolio. SAP announced a new SAP Leonardo IoT offering at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, which became generally available on March 25, 2019 (press release).
It is a platform-as-a-service offering. SAP Leonardo IoT will merge the services and functionality of different standalone solutions into a single product. SAP customers will be able to use microservices and development templates, which are part of this product, to develop their own IoT applications to map their use cases and requirements. The guiding principle here is the vision of the Intelligent Enterprise. The aim of SAP Leonardo IoT is to support the Intelligent Enterprise and correlate Internet of Things data with semantic data, such as master data or transactional data, to enrich the clients' business processes and complement the value chain.
As a consequence of the new focus of our IoT solution portfolio, SAP removed SAP Connected Goods, SAP Leonardo IoT Bridge, and SAP Vehicle Insights from the price list as of April 2019.
