Course Summary

Sustainability isn't just about going green. Like the environment, people are also affected by business decisions. And the demand for social responsibility is growing from investors, regulators, and consumers. In environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting, the 'S' in ESG is becoming a crucial factor, presenting challenges like compliance demands, human rights responsibilities, and societal expectations for social responsibility. Whilst the challenges are complex, addressing human rights and the societal impact of businesses offers an opportunity to drive meaningful and effective business action.

In this course you’ll learn about the role of the ‘S’ in ESG, the impact of business on human rights, business action and best practices to tackle social responsibility, upcoming regulations addressing human rights due diligence (HRDD) across the value chain, and how technology – especially several SAP solutions – can act as an enabler for social responsibility across critical business processes.

Kwena Mabotja

Kwena Mabotja is global director for sustainability marketing and solutions at SAP. She spearheads global engagement with NGOs like the World Economic Forum and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and also leads SAP's social responsibility marketing, championing business and human rights solutions. ​

Marcus Burke

Marcus Burke is a Manager for Equity Action at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) in Geneva, Switzerland, leading the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality (BCTI). ​

His work has focused primarily on guiding member companies on creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace, realizing the just transition to a net-zero and nature-positive economy, and implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.​

Marcus holds a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and French from the University of Virginia, an MSc in Finance from EDHEC Business School, and a Master’s in Public Policy and Data Analytics from Brown University.​

Kathryn DOVEY

Kathryn Dovey is based at the OECD Centre for Responsible Business Conduct. She joined the OECD in 2014 and previously ran the network of National Contact Points for Responsible Business Conduct across over 50 governments. She also worked with multiple countries on the fight against international tax evasion and during this time established the Africa Initiative on tax transparency. From 2020-2022 Kathryn was Executive Director of Open For Business, a global coalition of companies building the economic and business case for LGBT+ inclusion.

Over the past 20 years, Kathryn has provided human rights expertise to governments, business, and civil society in a wide range of countries including Brazil, China, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, India, Jordan, Liberia, Myanmar, and Russia. From 2012-14 she was a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Human Rights and in 2014, she was recognised as a Young Global Leader by the WEF. She has lived and worked in Canada, France, Portugal, and Russia.

Courtney Holm

Courtney Holm is Capgemini Invent UK’s Vice President of Sustainable Futures. Her role is to shape the way Capgemini UK creates long-term, sustainable value for clients, enabling them with fresh perspectives and digital solutions so that they can play a transformative role in addressing planetary, people, and systems challenges.​​

Juan Diaz Reina

Juan Diaz Reina is a senior consultant for Sustainable Futures at Capgemini Invent. He is a sustainability professional with over 12 years of international and cross-cultural expertise in collaborating with governments, private enterprises, associations, and third-sector and multilateral organizations.​

Juan has experience and knowledge applying different national and international frameworks related to sustainability, such as the UK Social Value Model, the Equality Act 2010, the Sustainable Development Goals, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the Universal Declaration of HHRR, the UN’s Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the UN Global Compact seeking to promote impact, value, and legacy, leaving no one behind.​​

Karolina Telejko

Karolina Telejko is the EU Government Affairs Director at SAP. She focuses on SAP’s policy and advocacy efforts around sustainability, including the EU Green Deal, ESG reporting, human rights and UN COP, and engages with policymakers and trade associations to enhance green, digital, and just transition in Europe and globally. ​

Alexandra van der Ploeg

Alexandra van der Ploeg is SAP's global head of corporate social responsibility (CSR), leading strategic initiatives to drive sustainable and long-term social impact and business value. Stephanie Raabe is SAP’s human rights officer. She focuses on SAP’s overall approach to respect human rights in line with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and monitors compliance with mandatory human rights due diligence regulations like the German Supply Chain Act. ​ ​ Having worked for almost 20 years in corporate sustainability, she has experience in various topics like integrated reporting, sustainable finance / EU Taxonomy, ratings and rankings, ISO 14001, sustainable procurement and sustainability strategy. ​

Since 2019, Stephanie has served as a member of the Board of the UN Global Compact Network Germany. ​

Avital Ben-Natan

Avital Ben Natan is an innovation development expert at SAP Sustainability Innovation and Engagement. In this role he is focused on developing and implementing strategies and solutions to embed sustainability and social responsibility in business operations. Avital has researched and co-authored SAP's Human Rights Due Diligence Point of View on the critical issue of human rights from an economic perspective.

Avital also founded the 2021 Hasso Plattner Award nominated venture Ecosilient, a circular B2B sharing platform.

Sandro Lovisa

Sandro Lovisa has 27 years of experience with SAP and has been part of the SAP GRC engineering and product management department since its inception. 

In his current role within GRC engineering, he concentrates on risk management in the context of environmental and social governance.

Mike Censurato

Mike Censurato is a solution manager for the SAP EHS applications at SAP and shares global responsibility for their go-to-market efforts. He has worked in the environmental software space for 23 years, focusing on SAP EHS for 21 of them. Before taking on the role of solution manager, Mike worked as an implementation consultant for SAP EHS and services practice lead.

Mike has a degree in geology and chemistry. He also obtained the CBAP Certified Business Analyst certification and is currently working on an MBA in sustainability.

Kim Lessley

Kim Lessley leads the Product Marketing team for the SAP SuccessFactors suite. Within this role, she is focused on driving the global go-to-market strategy and execution for SAP SuccessFactors solutions, including Talent Management (Onboarding, Recruiting, Learning, Performance & Goals, Compensation, Succession & Development), plus Core HR (Employee Central, Time Management, Global Benefits) and Payroll. ​

Sebastian Griessmeyer

Sebastian Griessmeyer is a senior product specialist for SAP S/4HANA for product compliance, which is part of SAP Cloud for Sustainable Enterprises. He currently works as a product manager in SAP’s sustainability engineering unit, focusing on the correlation between social responsibility/ESG and product compliance. He also has experience as a product compliance officer within the automotive software industry. ​

Allan Soo

Allan Soo is the solution manager for SAP Ariba and Fieldglass -Emerging Regulations and Sustainability, and covers areas across human rights, carbon emissions, circular economies, and sustainable supply chains. He has an engineering and business background, having previously worked in manufacturing, construction, energy, software, and financial services. ​

Allan holds a Bachelors in Engineering and Business Management from the University of Technology, Sydney. He has published several thought leadership pieces on circular economies for ecoVoice, on air pollution for the New York Times, and on ERP implementations for material flow analysis for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He has also published in the academic journal Process Safety and Environmental Protection on machine learning for nutrient recovery in the smart city circular economy. ​

Nandita Ghosh

Nandita Ghosh has over 23 years of industry experience working in various domains like finance, human resources, e-commerce, and procurement. She currently works as the product manager for SAP Ariba Supplier Risk, which is one of the SAP procurement solutions. Her focus is on providing solutions for various regulations like the German Supply Chain Law and European CSDDD by enhancing the existing Supplier Risk solution as well as integrating it with other procurement processes and products like product compliance. ​

Nandita holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication and her pastime for the last few years (until 2022) has been coaching teams participating in the First Lego League Challenge. ​

Zack Alabaster

Zack Alabaster holds the position of artificial intelligence product manager at SAP Fieldglass. Within his role he is focused on crafting tools and features that empower users with data-driven insights to help transform business operations.​

Zack is part of the Human Rights Due Diligence program at SAP, and represented the team at the Businesses for Inclusive Growth World Business Council for Sustainable Development incubator program in 2023. ​

Damien Buatois

Damien Buatois is a partner solution adoption principal in SAP’s SIX team (Solution & Innovation Experience). He is responsible for the Sustainable Procurement and Enterprise Architect partner workstreams. A domain expert in SAP Cloud for Sustainable Enterprise and the Intelligent Spend and Business Network solutions, Damien has led enablement programs and initiatives to co-innovate with partners in the area of sustainable procurement.​

​ Damien has over 15 years of experience at SAP with a strong background in procurement solutions and partner management based out of several countries.
