Course Summary

An SAP system needs to be constantly customized and maintained in order to meet changing business needs. An old, outdated system might not be able to support the business adequately anymore. You may also need to upgrade for infrastructure reasons, because older releases may no longer be supported on a newer operating system or database version. Every SAP release has a maintenance period. If mainstream maintenance for a release is ending soon, it is necessary to plan for an upgrade to a higher version.

In this course, we’ll investigate the latest tools and features that are essential for SAP system upgrades. We’ll begin by covering the maintenance planner, a solution hosted by SAP that offers easy maintenance of systems in your landscape. It is the successor to the maintenance optimizer, landscape planner, and LMDB product system editor, and combines their functionalities. After that, you’ll learn about near-Zero Downtime Maintenance (nZDM) for SAP NetWeaver Java systems. This tool enables you to perform various maintenance activities on your entire stack (hardware, OS, DB, AS Java) for SAP Enterprise Portal, SAP Process Orchestration, and SAP Business Process Management, reducing downtime to one system restart. Finally, we’ll go over ABAP stack upgrade topics such as Note Assistant, Database Migration Option (DMO) of Software Update Manager, SAP S/4HANA conversion, and other related subjects.
