Course Summary

SAP S/4HANA is SAP’s next-generation business suite, designed to help you run simple in a digital and networked world.

As an SAP customer or potential customer for SAP S/4HANA, you might ask yourself how you migrate your data to SAP S/4HANA. In this 4-week course, we’ll give you an introduction to data migration, and where it fits in with respect to the different transition scenarios. We’ll focus on the new implementation scenario.

In the first week, we'll give you an introduction to data migration and its challenges, as well as an overview of the various sources of information you should consult, depending on your current needs. Week 1 will focus on the SAP S/4HANA migration cockpit, and we’ll deep dive on how to transfer data using files and staging tables. We’ll explain this in detail with system demos.

Week 2 will cover the SAP S/4HANA migration object modeler, which you use to create your own or enhance delivered migration objects. This second week focuses on the file and staging approaches and includes system demos too.

In week 3, we’ll show you the direct transfer approach, which allows you to directly extract data from an SAP system and migrate it to the SAP S/4HANA system. This week also includes system demos and a deep dive on the migration object modeler for this approach.

Week 4 covers additional migration features, for example regarding data quality.

We’ll also offer optional hands-on exercises so you can better familiarize yourself with the different migration approaches. For these exercises, you can use a system image from the SAP Cloud Appliance Library.

The course concludes with a final exam.
